5.0 out of 5 starsM575 is much nicer than out-of-production M570, but does it have the longevity of the older M570s?
Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2021
I just had to write this review as soon as I got the M575. It's just so impressive, at least straight out of the box. Personally, I think once you adjust to a trackball, you'll never want to go back to a mouse.

I have two very old M570s. They've been dreams to own. They are no longer manufactured by Logitech and according to recent reviews, the most recently produced ones don't compare to the older ones in terms of lifespan or quality.

One of my M570s has seen only light use, while the other has seen very heavy use. The left click button eventually went wonky on the one which was heavily used. Reviews indicate that the newer M570s have been subject to "cost-effective" redesigns to hold it's price down and they now often fail pretty quickly.

In any event, save the money you would spend on one of the remaining M570s and step up to the M575. It's a bit larger so it feels better, the button clicks are much better, the scroll wheel rolls very pleasantly in a notch-type fashion, it feels like it's made out of slightly better materials, and it's got the option of blue-tooth (which doesn't matter to me at all). Really, everything about the M575 is better than the M570. I also really like that it takes an ordinary battery and not a rechargeable one, but this is a matter of personal choice. An AA battery goes forever in these things.

Seriously, shell out for the M575 over any remaining M570s out there. The M575 is just so much nicer. Now, let's just see if the M575 can match the lifespan and durability of the original M570s (mine are so old that I can no longer remember not having them).

1.0 out of 5 starsThis one's garbage!

Edit: My original review stands. I'm editing it b/c I took my old computer and trackball on a trip with me. After returning home, I began using my new computer and trackball again. The difference between my old trackball and my new is like night and day! This one (M575) is TOTAL GARBAGE! I'm going to reconfigure my arrangement to use the old trackball with my new computer and keep this piece of junk for use on my old computer. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from the Logitech ERGO M575 trackball. It really is poorly made. After trying two units, I can say that, in my experience, it's not at all like the usual Logitech quality or craftmanship.

Original Review:
A couple of days after installing, the "left click" button began to fail to pop up after it was depressed. I can use it for a bit, then have to manually pull the button back up and use it a few more times. Then it begins to fail again. I'm unable to "left click" again, and moving the mouse results in everything being "selected" even when I'm not trying to select something. REAL pain when it drags words around when I'm trying to write correspondence or even this review!

I've personally owned 5 or 6 of their previous models., I've purchased even more of the previous models for my employees. They were always great quality. Now, I'm unsure if this "newer model" is just not made like the older ones, or if I just have a defective unit.

Had I not tossed the box right after installing it, I'd return this one. As it is, I'm thinking it's just not made as well and so I'm considering looking into other brands.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fixed: Ball was too light to do detailed design work. Replaced ball with 34mm ball bearing.
Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2021
Color: GraphiteVerified Purchase
It's not a bad product. Especially for the price. My only complaint is one that most people probably will not have. When I do detailed design work, I am often trying to get the mouse to sit exactly on that one pixel when I click. But since the ball is soooo light, and rolls so easily (I know, right, who complains about the ball rolling smoothly?), when I click, the exact spot where I had the cursor may change slightly.

I decided to swap the ball out for a 34mm ball bearing. I grabbed one off of amazon for $9. Out of the box, the ball bearing was too reflective, and didn't give enough contrast for the optical sensor in the mouse to track the movement of. So I wrapped the ball bearing in a paper towel with some vinegar for a couple of hours (You DON'T want to let this go too long), to etch the surface a bit. Then I washed off the vinegar, dried it off, and applied a wax coating to it. Now it's a beefy ball that the optical sensor in the mouse can see perfectly. It takes some effort to move, which is a good thing for that "Right on the Pixel" design work. But spins smoothly and quickly when I need to do normal page viewing or surfing.

This isn't a review for everyone, but if you are that one person who has the same problem, I hope I helped. Because I was hoping to find someone who had the same idea when I was planning it out and buying the stuff for it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Look out for bluetooth conflicts with other devices!
Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2021
Color: GraphiteVerified Purchase
Big waste of time trying make something work that should be plug and play.

I have used a Logitech M570 mouse on computers at home and at work for years. Love them! So I was excited to see an updated model and purchased one.

I am not excited anymore.

Set it up on bluetooth with my new computer and it worked just like the old M570. So I put on my bluetooth headphones to listen to music. Music is an irritating staccato from mouse interference. Turned of the mouse music is fine. No problem I think. I will just use the dongle. Removed the mouse from the blue tooth list on the PC, plugged in the dongle. Nothing!! Rebooted, etc. tried everything - will not work. Tried unifying software using my laptops M570. Have to remove my old laptop dongle to link the new mouse to its dongle. Fails. Can’t use software without a mouse.

Packed up, returning to Amazon. Already ordered new M570 and a spare one. If and when they die, if this is Logitech's only trackball offering I will look elsewhere. All they have to do to fix this is an easy way to turn off bluetooth. If there is a way, I can’t find it.

Joe Kochevar
4.0 out of 5 stars A decent successor to the M570
Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2021
Color: GraphiteVerified Purchase
I used a logitech M570 for about a decade and loved it. It finally started having issues with the buttons after a nasty drop, so I needed to replace it. I found the M575 (this mouse) as the new version, with the MX ERGO as an upgrade option (theoretically). After a couple days with this mouse, I'm not disappointed, although I wouldn't consider it a universal improvement from the M570. For those looking for more explanation, I have a couple of thoughts.

Overall, the build quality seems improved. The buttons are modernized, have slightly less travel, and are slightly quieter. They aren't the dull, non-tactile clunks of "silent" mice (which I dislike - I have headphones on most of the day so I like feeling a solid, sharp click when I press the buttons). The button shapes are less ergonomically-inspired now, with just flat buttons for fwd+back, rather than the rhino horn on the M570. It still feels fine to use, and might be more drop-resistant this way.

The trackball for the M575 is slightly rougher than the M570, which was quite smooth. The texture is similar to dragging a pencil on paper in roughness, while the M570 was icy smooth. The included glossy silver ball feels totally fine to use, and may even be preferred by many as it gives a tactile feel to gliding around the page. Personally though, I really like the smooth ball, and they're exactly the same size, so I just swapped them around (so I have an M575 mouse body with a blue M570 ball).

For handling feel: overall, with the mouses side-by-side, it's difficult to see a difference in ergonomic shape as a whole: if there is one, it's very small. I'd read that the M575 was slightly larger, but it doesn't feel any larger during use. The M570 body was a smooth, glossy plastic, while the M575 has a bit more texture on the grey plastic. It's not rubberized (which would feel great, but wear out), just a slightly textured cast plastic. I actually really like the newer design's textured finish by comparison, as it feels a bit less gross and sticky. However, the M570 featured some ridges going down the side, which served to cradle the ring and pinky fingers, and keep your hand from sliding around. These ridges are far less pronounced on the M575, with really just a pinky divot remaining. For me, the M570 ridges fit my hands perfectly, so I'm sad to see them gone.

Overall, if you liked the M570, you will likely also like the M575. It's not a large departure: just a more modern rendition of a design that really worked. If you're new to trackballs and are looking for a reasonable thumb-trackball, this is a good mouse to start with. There aren't extra buttons or bells and whistles: it's just a solid mouse that should last you a good long time if you know how to pop the ball out and clean around the rollers every once in a while.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite trackball now with Bluetooth!
Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2021

I already own three of the Logitech trackball model m570 for use at work and home. Now, Logitech has added bluetooth to the M575. This one single upgrade alone makes it perfect for my MacBook Pro, Surface Pro, iPad, etc. that have no USB port or only one USB port. One can still use the USB connection too (there is a place to store this piece inside the battery compartment when not in use). Lack of bluetooth was the only reason I also have a Logitech MX Master 3. I prefer trackball though the MX Master is nice to have when editing video with Adobe.

The m575 connected by bluetooth with no issues. I downloaded the Logitech Options software from the support page, so I could customize my buttons. Be sure to check for updates even for your newly installed software. Otherwise, your m575 mouse may not be recognized.

I really like that this mouse still uses regular AA battery, which lasts a long time. I personally don't like rechargeable mice (the MX Master 3 is rechargeable). Sometimes I ended up throwing these devices out because the battery will no longer recharge even though the product itself would still work fine. Also, I don't like to stop and recharge. It's easier for me to put in a new battery. One could still use those rechargeable AA batteries if desired.

The trackball seems to move with a little more accuracy and glides. It may be it's because it's new. It may be because it's improved? It's enough so that I may upgrade some of my others that I use. The mouse has a nice weight to it, and the shape makes it comfortable to use (and I'm an extra small adult). The m570 weighs 4.8 oz. and the m575 says it weighs 5.5 oz. on a Dymo postal scale.

I have the white color, and it has a blue ball with a little sparkle to it. Looks great! The only way they could improve this for me is to add the option to connect to more than one bluetooth device (like my MX Master 3 has) and to make it offer it in pink like they do some of their other mice.

I feel it's an excellent value especially for the features. I would and probably will buy more!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the real deal for OG Logitech trackball users!

I think I've owned most of the Logitech trackballs over the year, with a bit of a hiatus in the last decades due to laptop and desktop touchpad use.

Two years ago, I bought the MX Ergo trackball. Good, but expensive and the feel isn't quite right. Mine has the tilting aluminum base, but not the extra rubber base, but it's more than tall enough as is.

I received the M575 a few days ago and immediately loved it. You need a free app called Sensible Side Buttons to make the nav buttons work on a mac, but other than that it was completely seamless. I'm tempted to replace the Ergo on my Linux box with a second M575.

I have had an M570 for seven years(pictures #3 & #4), and it still works great. I switched to a MacBook pro and needed a Bluetooth mouse because I did not want to connect a USB dongle to my computer just for a mouse to work. After reading reviews on the Ergo 575, I almost skipped buying it. I bought it anyway 2 months ago, and I have been pleased with it. The 570(old model) is slightly longer and wider than the 575(new model). I was not too fond of the M575 ball's color. I switched the ball from the M570, and it works perfectly. I was worried the Bluetooth would disconnect often, but it has not been. It never disconnected itself.
Tips: I dropped the M575; after that moving the ball would not move the cursor. I guess it was a sensor issue. I did my own troubleshooting, but it did not work. I almost bought a new mouse. After chatting with support, they asked me to disconnect the mouse from Bluetooth, remove the battery for 30 seconds, and restart my MacBook. After that, reinstall the battery and connect to Bluetooth. It worked fine after that. If you use the USB dongle, then you have to unplug it instead of disconnecting Bluetooth. I hope this will save someone from buying a new mouse.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stick With The M570, This Thing Hurts
Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2021
Color: Off WhiteVerified Purchase
I'm a sucker for aesthetics. My custom PC is white and black, my Logi speakers are white and black, my desk is white, and my gaming mousepad is black. So, when I saw a white trackball mouse (I already have a black replacement ball that fits this) I jumped on it. It looks great with my setup and I loved using it.

However, after no more than two weeks in, my hand started to ache throughout the day. I spend a few hours every night streaming Hearthstone and just messing around with my Linux system. That minimal usage started to cause a persistent ache in my upper palm between the tendons for my index and middle finger. I believe this to be due to the shape of the mouse. I have a M570 at work and until I bought this "ERGO" version for the looks, I had used a M570 at home. I never had an ache with the M570s.

I have noticed that this "ERGO" mouse doesn't have as much of a drastic ridge between the trackball and the main buttons as the M570, where your index and middle finger rest. This may be forcing the tendons to strain, setting them out of the natural resting position. This, coupled with the constant activity of those two fingers, may be irritating the muscles. I'm no doctor, but knowing the location of the pain I've had and looking at the differences between the mice, this would be my best guess.

I bought a Kensington Pro Fit Ergo Vertical Trackball before deciding the M575 is the problem. The Kensington was far more comfortable and the ache in my hand has eased up, but the trackball is a bit sticky with the sensors, making it difficult to click on small areas like the little "x" on file manager tabs, and such, so I'll be returning both this and that one and going back to my trusty M570. I won't be hurt again. Do yourself a favor and don't buy based on aesthetics. If ergonomics are important to you, ignore all others go with the M570. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good!!
Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2021

To be fair, I've only had this mouse since yesterday, but I already love it. I've had the M570 for a few months and it was my first trackball mouse. I have loved the switch from a regular mouse to the trackball. The reason I bought this one was because I saw all the reviews and how people loved this one even more than the M570. My issue with the M570 was the loudness of the ball moving within the socket whenever I moved the mouse around. On any given day I'm either working at home or working in the office, so the mouse goes with me and it's just clunky. I know, it's a petty issue and that's why I was hesitant to buy a new mouse only a few months after buying the 570. But I'm really glad I did. It's much less clunky, the movement does feel more controlled and smoother, and I notice the buttons clicking feels better, quieter. This mouse just seems like it's made better. I like the matte finish, it's just a little less slippery (not that the 570 was overly slippery, but I don't mind a bit more grip). And like another reviewer said, you can interchange the track ball from one to another if one feels better for you. I tried this, and I can see why you might want to use the 570 ball in the 575 but I'm not bothered by it and I like the light blue better lol.

I'll come back to update after I've had this a while longer. I'm a drafter and use AutoCAD computer software to draw architectural plans - so it was a big switch from mouse to trackball. I'll review after I've used it for a while with CAD.

Hope this was helpful
