This was not as easy as I thought it would be

The bed is made in China, the "wood" is really cheap in person. The final step is to put little plastic pieces next to the cross supports (which are a lot) and I'd recommend getting your hammer out to spare your fingers. Assembly is pretty well outlined but if you have anything else going on in your life a.k.a. kids, pets, phone, email, etc. then you may want to set aside some solitary time to follow the instructions as written. They are not intuitive.
On the upside, the bed seems solid - I mean it weighs a million pounds so how could it not? and it's higher than it looks in the pictures I saw online. If you never want to take it out of the room you're putting it in, great. If you want to move it... ever... phone a friend or hire someone to lug it out or carve a larger door.
