I have had about 8 Square Trade protection policies. I had one claim, on a washing machine. They immediately shipped me the part they believed was defective, had an appliance repair person 2 days later, and it was fixed. Kudos.

This furniture policy unlike their appliance polices, does not extend any manufacturers’ warranty. It is an accident policy only. I took this policy when I purchased a platform bed with slats. I guess that means if the wood bed cracks due to a defect, the manufacturer must handle it. If children jump on it and it cracks, SQ covers it.

I purchased the Allstate 3 year indoor furniture accident protection plan when I ordered my dining room furniture. While trying to assemble the chairs, I discover that parts are missing. I contact the insurance to have the set replaced. After opening a claim, I was told that the manufacturer had to be contacted to make it right. That is not what the ad says when purchasing the furniture. It states that they offer the protection from day one. I would like my money back on the insurance if the insurance isn't usuable until the manufacturer warranty expires.

Utterly useless if you have a warranty that doesn't exist

What is the point of this in the first year if you won't cover damages in theory that are covered by 'warranty'? The chair I ordered doesn't have a warranty apparently. So now what? Do I wait till the warranty is over then file for a new chair, or do I lie and say it is accidental or damaged form another source, instead of mechanical failure?
