Gen 3 is better yet again, if not the best!

I have owned almost every mechanical smart switch - Switchmate, Switchmate bright/slim, and all 3 versions of the Reality Switch. Although the Switchmate is the easiest to install/remove/move due to being held on by only magnets which I prefer, the Switchmate does not have zigbee, and no longer works over Bluetooth with a Wink hub. This Gen 3 zigbee Reality Switch is much better than Switchmate because it works with all smarthome hubs that support zigbee and works perfectly with SmartThings. It is recognized natively and runs locally with SmartThings. The only thing I wish it had in SmartThings is battery health reporting.
As far as comparing what’s new for Gen 3, it’s a totally new design. It is much slimmer and more modern looking. It has a new mounting design with screw clips instead of a mounting plate. This makes it flush mount and almost looks like it is held on by magnets like a Switchmate, but actually is more secure because it is friction clamped on. The body and button are now both matte finish, as opposed to the shiny button of Gen 2. Gen 3 looks much better than Gen 2.
Now as far as the sound of the motor. You can still hear the motor actuate, but it is quieter than the previous version. However, the actual moving motor/toggle is a new design, and for rocker switches the slider moves up and down, instead of the spiral that pokes out the top/bottom. This is more like the original Switchmate. It still works to toggle a rocker switch, but you need to play around and install spacers depending on how far out your rocker switch is installed. And included are stickers to protect the rocker switch as the slider moves up and down. This is a great attention to detail, because the original Switchmate would scratch the rocker switch over time.
Overall I’m really impressed with this Gen 3 version, and it’s the best one yet. I’ve already ordered more to replace my Gen 2 ones, as again looks alone makes a big difference. See pictures for yourself comparing Gen 3 to Gen 2.
